Howard Henard, age 88, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 at his home with his family at his side. Mr. Henard was a native of Murfreesboro and was a son of the late Hugh and Roberta Harris Henard.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Sansom Henard; daughter, Tina Henard Pearson and her husband David of New Orleans, LA. Additional survivors include special niece Joy Heath O'Dell and her husband Ed and their children John and Elizebeth O'Dell.

Mr. Henard was a member and ordained deacon of First Baptist Church. He was a 1947 graduate of Murfreesboro's Central High School and received his B.S. degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 1951. Mr. Henard is a veteran where he served in Germany as a Sergeant in the Big Red One tank outfit. He was employed by South Central Bell for 40 years before his retirement in 1991.

Funeral services will be at 11:00am Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Dr. Noel Schonnmaker and Rev. Pam Pilote will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family, friends, and his Sunday School class will serve as pall bearers.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00am.
