Horst Gunther Buerschaper, age 82, of Smyrna, TN. formerly of Chicago, IL. died Tuesday December 14, 2010 at Kindred Hospital. A native of Madgeburg, Germany he was the son of the late Gertrude Buerschaper. He is also preceded in death by his wife Patricia Mayercek Buerschaper. A funeral service will be held Friday at 5:30PM at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. Brother Ron Caldwell will officiate. Mr. Buerschaper is survived by his son and daughter in law, Mark and Martha Buerschaper of Smyrna, TN. and his brother and sister in law, Michael and Linda Breagel of Downers Grove, IL. Mr. Buerschaper was a retired refrigeration engineer and was employed with North Western Memorial Hospital in Chicago IL. He served with the German Kriegsmarine (Navy) in World War II and later served with the United States Army in the Korean War. He enjoyed playing golf. Woodfin Chapel Smyrna 459-3254
