Obituary

Horace Lowe Heath, age 80 of Smyrna, TN, passed away Monday May 18, 2015. A native of Nashville, TN, his family moved to Smyrna, TN when he was five years old. He lived on the same road from age five until his death. Mr. Heath was the son of the late Levi Lowery and Fannie Lee Barrett Heath. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Horace Joseph Heath who died in July 1996 and Mark Brew Heath who died in December 2013. Mr. Heath is survived by his wife, Patricia "Pat" Brew Heath; sons, Steven Troy Heath, David Samuel Heath and his wife Keri all of Smyrna, TN; daughter, Susan Renee' Woods and her husband, Derek of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Levi, Jacob, Joshua, Andrew, Bridget LeAnn, and Nicole DeAnn Heath, Angela Pulido, Amy Cheek, Grace and Heath Woods; Ten great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Oliver Heath of Readyville, TN; sister, Wanda Wray and her husband Jack of Smyrna, TN; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Masonic service at 7:00 PM at Stones River Baptist Church, 361 Sam Ridley Parkway East, Smyrna, TN 37167. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Thursday at Stones River Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery with family and friends servings as pallbearers. Mr. Heath was a member of Stones River Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and chairman of Deacons from 2004 to 2006. He was a graduate of Smyrna High School, where he served as president of his senior class. He then graduated from Nashville Tech with an Architectural Engineering Degree. Mr. Heath was a member of the Sam Davis Masonic Lodge # 661 for 50 years where he served a term as Worshipful Master. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Heath began work as a carpenter where he specialized in hanging doors. Mr. Heath was the Construction Manager for the Tennessee State Board of Regents and he worked for the Tennessee State Architect. Mr. Heath coached Babe Ruth baseball, where he impacted the lives of many young men. Horace was a licensed pilot, and flew his single-engine Cessna on short trips.
