Clark
August 29, 1929 – March 30, 2017
Herman S. Clark, age 87, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on March 30, 2017 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital. Born in Rockvale, TN on August 29, 1929, Herman was a native and life-long resident of Rutherford County (Rockvale and Eagleville) Tennessee. A 1948 graduate of Rockvale High School, Mr. Clark was married to the love of his life, Mary Ella Vaughan Clark for 67 years. He carried on his family's 150-year-old water well drilling business for most of his adult life. Herman Clark Water Wells provided water to homes throughout the Middle Tennessee area for close to 50 years. A long time member and elder of the Rockvale Cumberland Presbyterian Church , Mr. Clark served faithfully in eternal service to The Giver of Living Water . Mr. Herman loved God, the Church and his family. Many happy days were spent sharing in the joys of life with his loved ones on vacations, family outings and in daily life, especially with Mary Ella "Pig" and his "three little pigs," Theresa "Rita", Joyce, and Tam.
Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his parents, Nannie Lou Burns Clark and Young Leslie Clark; his infant daughter; sisters, Robbie Clark, Effie Price, Elaine Elrod, Ruby Sharber, and Nona Derouen; brothers, Young Burns Clark, Ralph Clark, Bill Clark, Clay Clark, and Horace Clark. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Ella Vaughan Clark; sister, Sylvia Clark Taylor; children, Theresa Clark Hill, Joyce Clark Merritt and her husband Timothy, Herman Talmage Clark and his wife Margaret; grandchildren, Peyton Hill and his wife Amy, Blake Hill and his wife Jessica, Jonathan Merritt, Kimberly Merritt Leeper and her husband James, David Joshua Merritt, James Merritt, Jacob Merritt, Jude Clark and Talmage Clark; and great grandchildren, Landon Hill, Rhett Hill, and one on the way.
Visitation will be Monday, April 3, 2017 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2017, 2:00 pm at the Rockvale Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8769 Rockvale Rd., Rockvale, TN 37153. Rev. Joyce Merritt will officiate. Burial will follow in the family cemetery on Snail Shell Cave Rd., Rockvale,
