Herbert Jay Monk age 80 of Murfreesboro died August 14, 2014. He was a native of Chuckey, TN and he was the son of the late B.G. and Zella Mae Price Monk. Mr. Monk served in the United States Air Force and later worked in Hotel Management before retirement. He is survived by his children; Cassandra Groh and husband Norman of Texas, Melody Engle, and husband Marc of Murfreesboro, Jay Monk, of Maryland, Candy Richter, and husband Jeff of Murfreesboro, Dwight Monk, and wife Stacy of Texas, Scott Monk , and wife Candy of Mt. Juliet, Missy Lay, and husband Steven of Murfreesboro; brothers, Roy Monk, and wife Barbara of Greenville, and Walter Monk of South Carolina; grandchildren, Jake, Bryan, Camden, Jessy, Cary, Caleb, Kaitlynn, Logan, Anna, Nicholas, Micah; great-grandson, Lucas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Arthritis Foundation www.arthritis.org Funeral service will be 7PM Sunday at Woodfin Chapel Smyrna. Visitation will be after 3PM Sunday until service time Sunday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna.
