HELEN HARTMAN BRANDON age 88 of Murfreesboro, died August 20, 2009. She was a native of Rutherford County and daughter of the late Paul and Florence Parman Hartman. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at North Boulevard Church of Christ . Brother Harris Goodwin will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Brandon is survived by a sister Catherine Hartman Gordon of Murfreesboro, Grandson Michael (Peggy) Brandon of Murfreesboro, Great Grandchildren Christopher, Emily, and Steven Brandon all of Murfreesboro. Mexican family Georgina and Rebecca Hernandez. Mrs. Brandon was preceded in death by her husband James A. Brandon who died in 2000, a son David Brandon who died in 1998, a grandson Steven Patrick Brandon, Sister Claire Campbell, and a brother Paul Hartman. Mrs. Brandon was a member of North Boulevard Church of Christ. Mrs. Brandon was fluent in Spanish having lived in Mexico City for 23 years. She used her Knowledge in helping Spanish- speaking people here by translating for them in hospitals, court proceedings and teaching them English. She was instrumental in starting the Spanish-speaking congregation at North Boulevard Church of Christ, where she was a member. She and James were responsible for the meals-on-wheels there for several years. She was interested in history and was a member of Daughters of American Revolution, Daughters of American Colonists, Daughters of 1812 and other patriotic organizations. The following will serve as pallbearers Michael and Christopher Brandon, Chuck and Gilbert Gordon, Jack Campbell, Ken Bogle, Jim McDermont, Feliciano Arriaga, Jorge Suarez Sr., and Jorge Suarze Jr. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. www.woodfinchapel.com
