Obituary

Hazel Marie Clendenning Irwin age 81 of Murfreesboro but formerly of Nashville, died Wednesday August 29. 2012. A native of Portland, TN, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Mary Jane Gregory Clendenning She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Marie Waggoner and Mary Elizabeth Kirby. Mrs. Irwin is survived by her husband, Walter Irwin, Jr.; sons, Walter Angelo Irwin of Nashville TN and Chester Wayne Irwin of Nashville, TN; daughters, Kathy (Irwin) Gilmore of Mt. Juliet, TN and Lola Mae Smith of Hendersonville, TN; brother, Raymond Johnson Clendenning of Nashville, TN; sisters, Eva Mae Parton of Murfreesboro, TN, Bertha Imogene Shannon of Garden City, MI, and Mary Ann Volovnik of Pittsburgh, PA; 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday September 1, 2012 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Woodfin Funeral Chapel, Smyrna. Graveside service will be 1:00 PM Tuesday September 4, 2012 at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Pegram, TN, with Pastor Billy Shoulders, Sr. and Pastor Bryan Carlos Saddler officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason Prince Meador, Paul D. Kirby, Rocky Wayne Irwin, Chet Jj Irwin, Lindsey N. Smith, IV, and Paul Judd PJ Kirby. Mrs. Irwin was a member of the Pentecostal Church. She work for Alladdin in Nashville of 25 years and also worked for Mayes Hosiery Mill. Mrs. Irwin was a loving, caring, and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all who knew her. Online condolences may be made at www.woodfinchapel.com.
