Hattie E. Rice, age 84 of LaVergne, died Friday, February 23, 2018. She was born in Franklin, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Harvey and Sadie Bennett Poteete. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rice in 1996, a sister, Margaret, and brothers, Thomas, Harvey Jr, and Tillman.

Survivors include three sons, Steven Rice and wife Pam of Smyrna, Tim Rice, and John Rice and wife Tina, all of Murfreesboro; a brother, F.A. "Pooch" Poteete and wife Linda of Dickson, County; and a sister, Ethel Simmons and husband Jerald of Smyrna; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of other loving family and friends.

Mrs. Rice was a longtime member of Miracle Baptist Church and retired in 1998 from AVCO Aero Structures.

Visitation will be 2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna and again Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Dr. Todd Kirkland officiating. Burial will be in Poteete Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.
