HARLAN BENNETT NELSON age 86 of Murfreesboro, died Friday April 20, 2012. A native of Shelbyville, he was the son of the late Merle A. and Florence Bennett Nelson Sr. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday at Woodfin Funeral Chapel with Dr. Dean Sisk officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Shelbyville. Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife of 64 years, Clarice, daughters Karen (Bill) Adcock, Karol Lewis both of Murfreesboro, three grandchildren Rachel Katherine Adcock, Nelson Reid Adcock, Helen Claire Lewis, three great grandchildren Dalton Tate Grizzle, Pearcy Wilson Richmond, and Abigail Lynn Adcock. He was preceded in death by a brother Merle A. Nelson Jr. Mr. Nelson worked as a machinist with G.E. for 30 years. He also served in the Merchant Marines as a Seaman Second Class.
