Gwendolyn K. "Nannymom" Lane, age 97, of Smyrna Tennessee went to be with the
Lord on Friday, December 7, 2018. A native of Sikeston, MO, she was the daughter of
the late George and Beulah Kirk. A graduate of Central Methodist University, Fayette
MO, Mrs. Lane retired as a music teacher at White Station High School, Memphis, TN.
She has lived a long and beautiful life as a loving and supportive daughter, sister, wife,
mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She will be dearly missed by
countless lifelong friends throughout Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia,
and Mississippi.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday at 2:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with
Calvary United Methodist Minister of Discipleship, Libby Baxter, officiating. Visitation will
begin at 12:00 Noon.
She is survived by a son, Hal Lane (Pam) of Columbia, S.C., and daughter, Beth
Sandridge (Ken) of Smyrna, TN, five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and
numerous nieces and nephews in Southeast Missouri. In addition to her parents, she
was preceded in death by her brother Charles Kirk, and her husband of 57 years,
Harold Lee Lane.
Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 12:00 noon until the
beginning of funeral services at 2:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel Smyrna, TN. Burial
will take place Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 2:00pm at New Lorimier Cemetery
Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
