Gregory Lewis, Sr

Gregory Owen Lewis, Sr., age 72, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 2, 1954, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Thomas R. Lewis, Sr. and Nellie Mae Gregory Lewis.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Deborah Ann (Heiken) Lewis; his children, Gregory Lewis, Jr. and wife Lauren, Keith Lewis and wife Jessica, and his cherished daughter, Leslie Lewis and husband Patrick; and his seven adored grandchildren, Kylie, Owen, Kinsey, Emma, Audrey, Elliott, and Thomas. He is also survived by his siblings, Thomas Lewis, Jr., William Lewis, David Lewis, and Karen Braun; along with many extended family members, adopted children and grandchildren, dear friends, and former colleagues whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Greg graduated from Hempfield High School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in 1972 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from York College. He spent more than four decades in the RV industry, beginning in the service department before moving his family to Moreno Valley, California, in 1988 to pursue a career in sales.

In 2009, Greg transitioned to General Manager of All American RV to be closer to home as he eagerly anticipated the arrival of his first grandchild, Kylie Anne Lewis. He later took time away from work to be a stay-at-home grandpa, a role he treasured. In 2012, he returned to the RV industry at Beaumont RV, where he loved sitting on the front porch waiting for customers to stop by and visit.

Known throughout the RV community as the "King of RVs," Greg was much more than a salesman. He was a mentor, teacher, and trusted friend who delighted in helping others succeed. He freely shared his knowledge and wisdom, leaving a lasting impact on countless colleagues, customers, and friends throughout his career. Greg retired in May 2022 and moved to Tennessee, where he found his own little slice of paradise surrounded by family.

Greg's greatest accomplishment was the family he built with his wife, Debbie. Married on March 10, 1979, they shared 47 years filled with love, devotion, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. Together they raised three children and created a lifetime of cherished memories.

Raised in Pennsylvania, Greg enjoyed sports, especially baseball and cross-country. He never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued.

Retirement brought Greg some of his happiest years. He loved driving his grandchildren to school, swim practice, soccer games, cheer events, and anywhere else they needed to go. Grandpa was always happy to be their personal Uber. When he wasn't spending time with family, he could often be found mowing his yard, tending his garden, or filling his bird feeders and enjoying the wildlife that visited each day. He was especially fond of the wild turkeys and red-headed woodpeckers that frequented his yard.

His mornings almost always began with a phone call to his daughter to make sure she was awake for work, and he never went to bed without a call from his daughter and grandchildren to make sure they had arrived home safely. Those simple acts of love and devotion reflected the kind of man Greg was always caring for the people he loved.

Greg had a heart of gold. He never let a child leave with an empty stomach or go without simply because their family could not afford something. Many of his acts of kindness were done quietly and without recognition. Whether it was paying for a child's field trip, sponsoring a swimmer or cheerleader, or helping a family through a difficult time, Greg believed no child should miss out because of circumstances beyond their control. He lived by the saying, "Chicken shit and greed will get you every time," and believed that if he had something someone needed, he should share it. His generosity touched countless lives, often in ways others never knew.

Greg will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, trusted mentor, loyal friend, "Lucky Lucky Lucious," and "Hulkster" as his grandson Owen affectionately called him. His warmth, generosity, wisdom, and sense of humor will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness, family, and service to others will live on in all who knew and loved him.

Visitation with the Lewis family will be at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro on Monday, November 9, 2026 from 3:00pm until the time of a memorial service beginning at 5:00 pm.
