Obituary

DR. REV. GLENDA STANTON WEBB age 61 of Murfreesboro, died Friday July 2, 2010, due to complications from pneumonia. Born in Washington, DC on December 9th, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Clara Partin Sitz. She considered herself a native of Nashville, TN having grown-up here and eventually raising her family here. A graduate of Hillsboro High School, she attended Baylor University and received her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University. She also earned her Masters of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from the Vanderbilt Divinity School. Ordained by the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Kentucky, she was the first woman minister to serve the Elkton Christian Church, Elkton, KY. She also served as the associate minister of First Christian Church Madisonville, KY. On returning to Nashville, she worked as an editor for both the Methodist Publishing House and the Upper Room Methodist Publishing Company. Her career also included being an ESL teacher for refugees. She was an active parishioner of Church of the Advent (Nashville) and St. Pauls Episcopal Church of Murfreesboro. As well as all her academic achievements her greatest roles would be that of mother, grandmother (Gigi), and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Ms. Webb is survived by her daughter Patricia McIntyre of Murfreesboro, son Michael Shawn Webb of KY., grandson Samuel McIntyre, and sister Dr. Nancie Schweikert of Nashville. Memorial services will be held 10:00 am Saturday at Church of the Advent Episcopal, 5501 Franklin Road, Nashville, Tennessee (615) 373-5630 with a reception following the service in the Parish Hall.
