Gladys Mildred Preston, age 93, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Adams Place Assisted Living. She was a native of Rutherford County and daughter of the late George H. and Lola Tilford Benson. She was the wife of the late Roy W. Preston who died in 2006. She was also preceded in death by an infant son and seven sisters. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Rev. Brady Cooper will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Garden. Visitation will be one hour before service at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Mrs. Preston is survived by one sister Mamie Sue Wrather and her husband Ralph of Murfreesboro; and many nieces and nephews. She was a member of Haynes Chapel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Preston was employed at Oak Ridge, Tennessee during WWII and retired from Hobgood School Cafeteria in 1979. Nephews and great-nephews will serve as pallbearers.
