Obituary

George Elmer "Snooks" Stacey, age 96, of Murfreesboro passed away March 21, 2015. Mr. Stacey was a native of the Walter Hill Community and was a son of the late Charles and Myrtle Gannon Stacey. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Mr. Stacey is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eileen Koch Stacey who is a native of Guymon, Oklahoma; four sons, Sam Stacey and his wife Barbara of Silver Hill Community, Don Stacey of Lebanon, Ticie Stacey, Charles Stacey and his wife of Tina all of Murfreesboro; and daughter, Tina Smallwood and her husband Mike of Murfreesboro; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren which encompassed four generations. Mr. Stacey was a member of the Church of Christ and was a retired truck driver for Prince Oil Company. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 3rd Armored Division and was in the invasion of Normandy on D Day. Funeral service will be 5:00pm Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service followed by full Military Honors at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Brother Jim Newman will officiate.
