George Dewey Hewitt, age 85 of Smyrna died Sunday January 20, 2018. He was a native of Richlands, N. C. and was the son of the late Alonza Dewey Hewitt, and Serena Batcher Hewitt. Mr. Hewitt was a twenty-one-year Veteran of the United States Air Force after serving two years in United States Army. After retiring from the Air Force, he was an agent with Land Air Express. Mr. Hewitt had attended Cason Lane Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dot Hewitt; children, Keith Hewitt and wife Terri of Bowling Green, KY., Annie Hewitt Hennessey and husband David of Hollywood FL, Donna Floyd and husband Kenny of Christiana, Darlene Edwards and husband Jeff of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Jerry, Shawn, Justin, Hope, Daniel, Nathan, Tara, Halle, Tayton, Trapper, Carley, Erin; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Floyd Hewitt and wife Dorine of North Carolina, Robert Hewitt and wife Evanell of North Carolina, Herbert Hewitt and wife Hilda of Florida; sisters, Belle Bradshaw of North Carolina, Oneil Hewitt of North Carolina, Shirley Davis and husband Farley of North Carolina.
