Gary Walter Michael , age 78 of Mt. Juliet, TN, passed away Wednesday December 21, 2016. A native of Albion, NE, he was the son of the late Walter Sylvester and Vera Margaret Nichols Michael. Mr. Michael was also preceded in death by his brothers, Duane, Merlin, and Donald Michael.

Mr. Michael is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rena Dawn Reed Michael; sons, Anthony "Tony" Michael, and his wife Julia of Smyrna, TN, and Steve Michael, and his wife, Tana of Mt. Juliet, TN; sisters, Karen Berryman of Kearney, NE, and Kay Michael of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Brandon Michael, and his wife Kristin, Ashley Johnson, and her husband Brandon, Jon Gary Michael, Meagan Kelsey, and her husband Nick, and Derek Michael; great-grandson, Easton Michael.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Friday December 23, 2016 at Smith Springs Church of Christ, 2783 Smith Springs Road, Nashville, TN 37217, with Brother Jeff Upton officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the church.

Mr. Michael was a member of Smith Springs Church of Christ, and retired as a Disability Examiner from the State of Tennessee, Social Security Administration.
