Gary Lee Grooms age 57 of LaVergne, TN, died Sunday November 13, 2011. A native of Nashville, TN, he was the son of the late Harvey Clay and Nema Jean Tate Grooms, Jr. He was also married to the late Patricia Ann Bowman Grooms who died in 2003. Mr. Grooms is survived by his wife, Nancy Woodall Grooms, daughters, Summer Lynn Grooms of Nashville, TN, Lindsey Marie Grooms Escue and her husband Tim, Lauren Lee Grooms, Kathleen Suzanne Grooms all of Murfreesboro, TN, and Kala Christine Grooms of LaVergne, TN; step-children, Michelle Renee Durham of Smyrna, TN, Hannah Dale Campbell and her husband Ssgt Jeff Campbell of Fayetteville, NC, Matthew Adam Woodall of Smyrna, TN, Amanda Michelle Lane-Woodall and Jerry L. Miller both of LaVergne, TN; sister Kathy Grooms Combs and her husband Alan of Smyrna, TN; two granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Rev. Milton Hicks and J. T. Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Mapleview cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Mr. Grooms was a member of the Baptist Church and was a Senior Computer Programming Analyst for Cracker Barrel Corporate Office in Lebanon, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association-USA National Headquarters, 3300 E. Sunrise Drive Tucson, AZ 85718 in memory of Mr. Grooms.
