Obituary

GARLIN RAY WILSON, age 70 of Smyrna died Tuesday, June 9, 2009. He was a native of Maury County and the son of the late Stanley and Irene Wakefield Wilson. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Rae Ann Graham, and a sister, Linda Baxter. Mr. Wilson was a member of Smyrna First Methodist Church and a graduate of University of Tennessee. He was retired from Tennessee Farmers CO-OP in LaVergne in 2000. He was president of the Feed Division and on the Executive Board and Regular Board for American Feed Industries Association. He was also involved with Tennessee Feed and Grain Association for over 25 years. He was also the recipient of the very first Pioneer of the Year award set up for the outstanding member for contributions to the Feed industry and AFIA. He was active in U.T. Alumni Association, and 4-H Foundation. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Prince Wilson, daughter Bethany Wilson (Jeff) Mullins of Smyrna, grandchildren, Melinda (Chris) Deakins of Smyrna, Atticus Mullins United States Marine Corps station in Afghanistan, sister, Reba Wilson Harris of Union City, and brother, Dewey Wilson of Santa Fe. Funeral service will be 1:00PM Friday at Smyrna First United Methodist Church with John Michael Jones and Joe Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00PM to 8:00PM Thursday with a Masonic service at 7:00PM at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna 459-3254 www.woodfinchapel.com
