September 13, 1940 – July 21, 2023
Fritz Elmer Humphries, age, 82 of Lebanon, TN, passed away Friday, July 21, 2023, after an extended illness. A native of Cincinnati, OH, he was born to the late Elmer Fritz (Pop) and Pernie (Mom) Mae Meadors Humphries. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Virgil, Howard, Gwendle, and Alvin Humphries, and sister, Ruth Karhoff.
Fritz is survived by his brother Jerome (Pat) Humphries of Cincinnati, OH; sisters, Elsie Love of Columbus, OH, Mildred Humphries of Cincinnati, OH, and Kathleen (Edward) Riley of Smyrna, TN. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and several close friends including Fred Powers.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. The funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, July26, 2023, at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Pegram, TN.
Fritz joined the Army on July 15, 1958, and spent his life doing what Fritz loved to do. He enjoyed talking to everyone he met. He loved his family and the casino. Fritz loved restoring antiques of all types.
His final wish was to pass at home, and his nieces Tammy, Karen, and Sharon made that possible. He was on his way to the casino when he went to sleep. But he was happy.
