Franklin D. Potts , age 83 of Smyrna, TN, passed away Friday May 19, 2017. A native of Smyrna, TN, he was the son of the late Barney and Daisy Ann Mears Potts. Mr. Potts was also preceded in death by his wife, Willie Jo Rutherford Jones,  brothers, Doris, Dayton, Clyde, Robert Earl, Barney Eugene, Charles Ray, William, and Joel Potts and sisters, Roberta Lambert, and Hazel Dollar.

Mr. Potts is survived by his sisters, Betty Victory of Smyrna, TN and Joyce Ormson of Sartell, MN; step-sons, James Jones of LaVergne, TN and Raymond Jones of Smyrna, TN; step-daughters, Margaret Kinniard of Smyrna, TN and Wanda Jones of LaVergne, TN; six step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Pastor Carlos Saddler officiating. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Potts was a member of the Church of Christ, a US Air Force veteran and worked for the City of Smyrna Parks and Recreation.
