Francis Elmer Brown, Sr., age 97 of Murfreesboro, TN, died Sunday July 22, 2012. A native of Dickson County, TN, he was the son of the late John Franklin and Nancy Ellen Gary Brown, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Edwards Brown who died in 1999 and a granddaughter, Kathy Robison who died in 2008. Mr. Brown is survived by sons, F. E. (Kathy) Brown, Jr. of Rossville, GA, Dr. William Andrew (Karen) Brown of Murfreesboro, TN, and John R. (Linda) Brown of Murfreesboro, TN; daughters, Nancy Brown Moore of Murfreesboro, TN, Eileen Brown (Don) Haynes of Murfreesboro, TN, and Virginia Brown LeSage of Chattanooga, TN; ten grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday July 25, 2012 at Woodfin Funeral Chapel with Pam Pilote and Rev. Tim Fisher officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12:00 noon until time of service. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with Michael Brown, Chris Haynes, Jason Mathis, Phillip Moore, Jeremy Lewis, Justin Few, Ted Millsap, Josh Gregory, Mark Carlton, and Nathan Robison serving as pallbearers. Mr. Brown was a member of Southeast Baptist Church. He served in the Naval Reserve during World War II, and retired in 1974 from the State of Tennessee Department of Transportation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, or the Tennessee Chapter of the March of Dimes, Suite 201, 1101 Kermit Drive, Nashville, TN 37217 in memory of Mr. Brown.
