Frances Estelle Lee Wood, age 85 of Smyrna, TN, passed away Wednesday February 25, 2015. A native of Rutherford County, she was born July 15, 1929, the eighth of eight boys and four girls, to Roy Douglas and Sallie Thomas Lee. She married W.E. Wood in May of 1946, who preceded her in death November, 2011. Her daughter Sandra Puryear preceded her in death in 2000. Mrs. Wood was also preceded in death by brothers, Thurman, Roy, W.T., Ricks, and Raymond "Dickie" Lee. Mrs. Wood is survived by daughter, Marsha Paul and her husband Doug of Smyrna, TN; son, Clete Wood of Herndon, VA; son-in-law, Carl Puryear of Dalton, GA; sisters, Elene Butts of College Grove, TN, Tillie Hager of Smyrna, TN, Sadie Holt of Nashville, TN; brothers, Robert Lee of Joelton, TN, Roger Lee of Smyrna, TN, and Maurice Lee of the Almaville community; grandsons, J. D. and Steve Paul, Jason and Dan Puryear; 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Funeral service will be held 9:00 AM Saturday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Brother Everette Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with J.D., Steve, and Braydon Paul, Dan and Jason Puryear, and Wayne Holt will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be John R. Lee, Jr., Robert Gossett, Jesse Williams, Pete Strickler, and Lonnie Doremus. Mrs. Wood was a member of Rock Springs Church of Christ and was a retired manager from Smyrna Housing Authority. She was a seamstress and founding member of Heartwarmer's Club. She alone crocheted over 5,000 sweaters to World Outreach, along with numerous other donations to the needy. Mrs. Wood was also a member of the Smyrna Senior Citizens. In lieu of flower, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association in memory of Mrs. Wood.
