January 21, 1937 – December 9, 2016
Frances Wood Hopkins, age 79, left this world and entered God's presence on December 9, 2016 at IU West Hospital following a long courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on January 21, 1937 in Terre Haute Indiana to Charles Henry Wood and Olive Frances Wood who preceded her in death. She was the youngest of six children.
She graduated from Gerstmeyer Technical High School in 1954 and then married her first love Jack Hopkins in 1955. After 4 years in the Air Force, Frances and Jack returned to Terre Haute where Frances worked for Navajo and Motor Freight lines. In 1986 they moved to Tennessee and lived in LaVergne, Tennessee for 20 years. In January of 2007 her husband of 50+ years died and she chose to go back home to Terre Haute. She was blessed to reconnect with her dear friend and second love Don "Donnie" Bottoms.
She was a member of Walter Hill First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hopkins; her parents; her brothers, Charles Wood, Richard Wood, Donald Wood; her sister, Constance Wood; her sister-in-law, Helen Wood; and brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Joy Hopkins
She is survived by her brother, Jack (Lois) Wood of Murfreesboro, TN; sisters-in-law, Jackie Wood of Arizona, Dee Wood of Texas, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews (who loved her dearly) and her beloved Donnie and his family.
Aunt Frances will be missed by all who loved her and we cherish our memories of her. She loved her family and loved life.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday December 17, 2016 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
Graveside service will be 11:30 am at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. F. Murray Mathis officiating. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
