Obituary

Floyd M. Wilson, age 84 of Murfreesboro, died September 17, 2015 at his home. Mr. Wilson was a native of Rutherford County and was the son of the late Bill and Irene Coe Wilson. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 21, 2015 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Reverend Steve Odom will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Sons, grandsons, a son in law, and grandson in law will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be State Farms Ray and Ray's Raiders and the Elders and Deacons of Central Christian Church. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Carolyn Rogers Wilson; daughter Debbie Miller and her husband Randal of Murfreesboro; three sons, Mitch Wilson and his wife Mary of Woodbury, Bill Wilson of Murfreesboro, and David Wilson and his wife Edy of Murfreesboro; a sister, Colleen Heath and her husband Billy of Murfreesboro; eight grandchildren, Brian, Jason, and Courtne Elrod, Brooke Edwards, Ashley Hardage, Jacob, William and Kayla Wilson; and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Wilson was a member and Life Elder of Central Christian Church. He was a 1950 graduate of Kittrell High School and attended MTSU. He was a United States Air Force veteran and served as Rutherford County Commissioner from 1972-1978 and as Chairman of the Board of the County Commissioners from 1978-1980. He served as a Babe Ruth Coach from 1966-1967 and was the Babe Ruth Baseball Commissioner in 1968. He was a fifty-year Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the Al Menah Temple where he logged over fifty thousand miles carrying children to hospitals between Cincinnati and Lexington. He retired in 2013 at age 82 after 52 years of service as an agent for State Farm Insurance. Visitation will be Sunday, September 20, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro.
