Obituary

Floyd Eugene Lane, born on February 14, 1933, in Rutherford County to Hilda May Cunningham and Monroe Lane, passed away on October 7, 2023, at the age of 90. Floyd had seven siblings, Willie Lane, Clyde Lane, Ed Lane, Doug Lane, James Lane, Charles Lane, and Howard Lane, who have unfortunately all preceded him in death.

During his life journey, Floyd was preceded by two of his children named Tulley Lane and Gene Lockhart. He also cherished the love and support from his surviving children, Connie Warner, Nettie Lane, Ronnie Lane, Randy (Sheryl) Lane, Missy Lane, and Mike (Katrina) Lane; 19 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.

Floyd's parenting style was characterized by patience and fairness. He believed in positive reinforcement to guide his children through life's challenges. His best qualities were kindness towards others, maintaining a positive outlook on life even during difficult times and displaying great self-discipline.

Professionally, Floyd worked as a Mobile Home mover and Painter. Prior to that role he served as a PF2 in the Army where he held positions in Infantry and Artillery units. He was deployed to Korea during the Korean War and honorably discharged in 1954.

In matters of faith Floyd embraced Christianity wholeheartedly. His deep-rooted beliefs guided him throughout his lifetime.

A public Funeral service will be conducted at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna, TN on October 11th at 2:00 PM to honor Floyd's life and legacy. Prior to the service there will be a public Visitation at Woodfin Chapel starting at 9:00 AM on the same day. A burial will be held at Mapleview Cemetry in Smyrna, TN at approximately 3:00 PM following the servie.

Floyd will be remembered for his unwavering dedication towards his family and his country. His kindness, positivity, and self-discipline have left an indelible mark on those who knew him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
