Fay Madeline
Syck
July 7, 1943 – October 14, 2025
Mrs. Fay Madeline Peyton Jernigan Syck, age 82, of Spring Hill, TN passed away peacefully October 14, 2025. She was born on July 7, 1943, in Lascassas, TN to the late Helen Carmine Jordan Peyton and Harvey E. Peyton. She was the beloved granddaughter of Anna Dement Jordan and Ben Jordan on her maternal side, and Katie Phillips Peyton and Brum Peyton on her paternal side.
A graduate of Lascassas High School, she went on to become Nationally Certified in Surgical Technology — one of her proudest professional achievements, second only to being the devoted mother of Bobbie Lynn Jernigan.
She dedicated her career to healthcare, working at Rutherford Hospital and several hospitals in Nashville, ultimately retiring from Vanderbilt Hospital where she served in Neurosurgery. Her commitment to patient care and excellence in her field left a lasting impact on colleagues and patients alike.
In her later years, she resided at The Reserve in Spring Hill, where she was cared for with compassion and dignity. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at The Reserve and the staff at Maury Regional Hospital for their attentive and loving care.
She was a proud member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, honoring her deep roots and heritage. A woman of strong faith, she was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a lover of history and the outdoors.
Those who knew her will remember her unwavering determination and plain-spoken demeanor, always tempered with kindness and a soft heart. Her presence was strong, her love was deep, and her absence will be profoundly felt. She will be greatly missed.
