Obituary

Ezekiel Magnus Rigsby "Zeke" passed from this life on October 13, 2024, while in the caring arms of his mom and dad.

Born on September 19, 2021, Zeke was a miracle child who brought joy to everyone he met. He enjoyed his three precious years of life surrounded by his brothers, and the loving care of his parents, grandparents, North Boulevard church family, and the wonderful team at Special Kids.

Zeke is survived by his parents, Russell & Abby Rigsby; brothers, Slade & Axel; grandparents, Russell & Karen Rigsby, and John & April Magnuson; great grandparents, Hazel Rigsby, Shirlene Magnuson, Don & Barbara Alexander, and Rondal Banks, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him very much.

Zeke's life was nothing short of a miracle. One doctor said "there was no medical explanation" for Zeke having lived past the second day of his life. However, with hundreds of prayers and petitions, as well as the elders being called upon to pray for Zeke, God spared his life. While he dealt with many chronic health conditions, the medical teams at Vanderbilt and Special Kids took great care of him.

Zeke will be remembered for his cooing sounds, his sweet cuddles, his content nature, and all the made-up songs that were inspired by his presence. While he had cerebral palsy and had difficulty with his arms and legs, they came alive when they hit the water – he loved to be in the pool or the tub. Zeke's beautiful eyes and his strong heart will live on through his donation to other children in need.

Our family will cherish the many memories Zeke gave us – from picking him up from school, to walks around the neighborhood, to the grumpy face he would make when picked up out of the water, to the final week we had with him at Disney World, where he met many characters and made them as happy as they made him.

We would like to offer our utmost thanks to our North Boulevard family, Special Kids, Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, Dr. Rosser, Rutherford County, and Murfreesboro City EMS – you have each played a significant role in Zeke's life and we will forever be grateful.

Zeke's life brought glory to God. We have all learned to trust and rely on Him more. We are absolutely confident our Zekey is running and dancing, as we always dreamt, in the presence of the Almighty God. Because of our faith in Jesus, we look forward to spending an eternity with him in the age to come.
