Obituary

Everett "Mac" McGehee, age 94, died July 11, 2016 at his home in the Barfield Community. Mr.   McGehee was a native of Davidson County and was a son of the late Ernest and Lillian Wiseman McGehee. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Douglass Craig McGehee, and his brother, Don McGehee.

Mr. McGehee is survived by his wife of 69 ½ years, Connie Yeargan McGehee; two sons, Lannie (Jeanne) McGehee of Goodlettsville and Leslie McGehee of Barfield Community; grandchildren, Jody (Stacey) McGehee, Ryan (Charlena) McGehee, and Abigail McGehee; and two great-grandchildren, Roxanna McGehee and Everett McGehee.

Mr. McGehee attended Farris Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of East High School in Nashville where he played football and ran track, but his game til death was football. He served in the 5th Air Force in the Southwest Pacific and Far East during World War II. He was a retired supervisor at the Nashville Post Office for 32 years before his retirement in 1983. He enjoyed playing golf, gardening, traveling, and reading. He was a great story  teller especially on World War II experiences, but most of all he enjoyed his family.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Rev. Bob Tuttle and Rev. Debbie Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Yeargan Family Cemetery at Barfield. Visitation will be 3:00 until 7:00pm Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.

Jody and Ryan McGehee, Tommy and Bart Yeargan, and Chip and Bubba Smith will serve as active pall bearers. Honorary pall bearers will be Bill Allen and the office staff of Old Fort Golf Association.

Memorial may be made to Farris Chapel United Methodist Church in memory of Mr. McGehee.
