Mrs. Eula Mae Parris Kerchner, age 90 passed peacefully in the company of her daughters at her home Thursday May 21, 2015. She was born in Byrdstown, TN and was the daughter of Cosby and Susan Parris. She is survived by her children, Marie Reynolds and husband Richard of Colorado, Carol Kerchener and Thomas Mount both of Smyrna; two grandchildren, Harold Reynolds and wife Ashley of Washington, Katherine Shirley and husband Michael of Colorado; four great-grandchildren, Lauryn and Payton Shirley, Ava and Aden Reynolds. Mrs. Kerchner was one of fourteen siblings, seven of which have preceded her in death. She was a "Rosie the Riveter" in an aircraft assembly plant in Ohio during WWII. She then moved to St. Louis where she met Edward C. Kerchner, and they married June 7, 1947. While Mr. Kerchner was in the Air Force they lived in many locations from Waltham, MA to Honolulu, HI. and after he retired from the Air Force in 1964 they lived in Murfreesboro and ultimately settled in Smyrna. Mrs. Kerchner was an avid gardener, loved working in her yard and ultimately dug a pond by hand in the back yard. She retired from Middle Tennessee State University Library where she worked in the Periodical Department. She will be laid to rest beside her husband Edward C. Kerchner in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Funeral service will be Saturday May 30, 2015 at 1:00PM at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna.
