Obituary

ESTA LUCILLE BELCHER JOHNSON, age 83, of Murfreesboro, died Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She was a native of Tellico Plains, TN. and the daughter of the late Bertha Smith and Timothy Belcher. She was also preceded in death by her husband; Burl L. Johnson Jr., grandchild; Bryan Johnson, her sister Irene Brantley and other devoted brothers and sisters. Funeral Services will be 3:00 P.M. Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Brother Carl McClain will officiate. Burial will be Friday at 12 Noon Eastern Time in Mountain View Park Cemetery in Marietta, GA. She is survived by her daughter and son in law; Judy and David Duke of Talking Rock, GA, her son and daughter in law; Marc and Sonia Johnson of Murfreesboro, three grandchildren; Sarah Elizabeth Nix and her husband Jeremy of Guntersville, Ala., Danielle Patton of Murfreesboro, and Renee and her husband Chris Burrows of Murfreesboro, five great grandchildren; Jacob Johnson of Rome GA, Tyler and Nicholas Williams and Maddie and Sydney Patton all of Murfreesboro, three sisters; Virginia Graves of Corryton, TN, Leila Hall of Knoxville, TN, and Rosa Palmer of Rossville, GA., she is also survived by one brother Clyde Belcher of Eureka, CA. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses and resided at Sunnington Assisted Living. As a child she attended school in a one room school house while helping her mother and father care for her siblings. Early in her marriage, she and her husband resided in Baltimore, MD. When he joined the military, she worked as a Rosie the Riveter and actually met F.D.R. when he toured the plant in which she was working. She was most proud of the fact that had her husband survived, they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 2nd, 2009. She said He was the best husband in the world! In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses.
