Mr. Eron Elmore Powers, Sr., age 90, formerly of Murfreesboro, TN passed away peacefully Monday, July 20, 2026 at his home with his family by his side. He was born in the Rutherford County side of Unionville, TN to the late Gerald and Dorothy Elmore Powers. Eron was a 1954 graduate of the original Rockvale High School where he played baseball and basketball and was involved in 4-H. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force where he was a crypto operator. Eron came back to Rockvale to work the farm for a few years before getting work as a tool and die maker for Park Sherman then United Service Equipment. He began playing baseball at a young age and instilled that love of the game in his sons and grandchildren coaching and attending games. Eron maintained his faith in Jesus Christ as a lifelong Baptist attending whichever church was closest to home. He truly enjoyed being a husband and father to his family and supported them in their endeavors.
Eron is survived by his children, Buddy Powers, Jackie Powers, Tim Powers and his wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Trice Powers and his wife Erin, Lindsey Lanier and her husband Darrian, Brooke Parrish and her husband Alex, Johnny Powers, Caleb Powers, Joshua Powers, and Joanna Powers; great grandchildren, Jackson, Braxton, Karlie, Maya, Layla, and Josie Rae; siblings, Jerry Powers, Thomas “Slick” Powers and his wife Wilma, Granville Powers, Dot Duggin, Ray Powers, and Sue Mankin; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Nellie Gray Powers, and a baby sister, May Powers.
For those who wish, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday, July 25, 2026 from 10:00am until 1:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 1:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
