EMORY JOHN PATER, age 50 of Delray Beach, Florida died September 7, 2010. He was a native of Rutherford co and was the son of the late, Regis John and Margaret Zoltun Pater. Emory was a former Murfreesboro Police Officer, attended Motlow College and MTSU in pursuit of his beloved game of Baseball, but eventually settled on a career in Professional Golf. He worked locally and at courses in the Atlanta area while attending PGA School where he graduated in Professional Golf Managent, and achieved his Class A PGA Professional Status. Emory Joined the Arvida Corporation in 1991 holding various positions such as Director of Golf and General Manager of some of the finest County Clubs in Georgia, Texas, and Florida. He retired from the Arvida Corporation in 2005 as the Director of Development of North Florida Operations. He return to one of his favorite clubs, Broken Sound in Boca Raton, Florida where he worked until failing health forced him into full retirement, Emory is survived by brothers, Edwin Pater of Murfreesboro, and Regis D. (Terry) Pater and his wife Cheryl of Florence Kentucky. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Father Fred Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Stephen Pater, David Smaron, Dennis Smaron, Nate McDaniels, Tracy Wilkins, Randy Garrett, Rick Stout, Jimmy Horn and John Blankenship. Memorials can be made to 100 Club of Rutherford County or Tennessee Golf Foundation for Junior Golf at Legends in Franklin, Tennessee.
