EMMA CLARA ZUMBRO HUGHES, age 86 of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away on February 21, 2009 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Mrs. Hughes was born in Rutherford County on November 24, 1922, to the late Rufus Oliver and Lucinda Louise Duggin Zumbro. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Alex Hughes who died in 1981 and a son, William Billy Hughes who died in 2008, and sisters, Christine Arnold and Rosetta Freed. Survived by daughter Nancy Crowell and her husband Joe of Christiana, TN, four grandchildren, Gwen Cagle, Jeremy (Mylinda) Nichols, Brian (Brooke) Hughes, Melissa Simpson, one step-grandchild, seven great-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Dr. E. C. Tolbert officiating. Mrs. Hughes was a member of Midway Church of Christ and a homemaker. At her request there will be no visitation. Pallbearers will be Joe Crowell, Jeremy Nichols, Brian Hughes, Lyn Williams, James Todd, and Eli Damron.
