EMMA (DUFFY) THOMPSON, age 83, of Murfreesboro peacefully left this world on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late S. Lester & Esther Fisher Duffett. She is survived by her caring husband, Aubrey Thompson; daughter, Leslie Sauer and her husband John of Huntsville, Ala; sons David Thompson, Jim Thompson and his wife, Billie Jo of Murfreesboro; two grandchildren, Justin Sauer, Nashville, Tn. and Lauren Sauer, Lexington, Ky.; brother, John Duffett and his wife, Joan of Watkinsville, Georgia and other loving family members throughout the country. Funeral services 2 pm Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Bob Niles, Garie Taylor and Brian Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family 4-8 pm Friday. Mrs. Thompson was a Public Health Nurse having graduated from Bates College and the University of Michigan. She was an active member of the Bethel United Methodist Church and was the recipient of the Rutherford County Humanitarian Award for voluntary service. She was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Duffett and a sister, Jane Donnelly. Active Pallbearers will be Richard Walkup, Tommy Tennpenny, Avent Dismukes, Ed Jordan, Sr. Ted Frantz, Royce Taylor, Jimmy Taylor, Kent Soloman, and Ike Farrer. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Mens Club at Bethel United Methodist Church.
