November 16, 1926 – January 4, 2018
Martha "Emily" Sant Amour, age 91, of Murfreesboro, passed away January 4, 2018. Born in Atlanta, GA, Emily moved to Murfreesboro at the age of five. She was the daughter of the late Roy Edwin and Louise Spalding Dennard. A Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Nicholas Allen officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Emily is survived by her husband of 68 years, Jack; daughters, Mary Duckwall of Marshall, MI, Martha (Anil) Kapur of Washington DC, and Louise (Chris) Wilson of Los Angeles, CA; sons, John (Sharon) Sant Amour of Murfreesboro, TN and Jim (Marcia) Sant Amour of Annapolis, MD; a sister, Lois Bugg of Mobile, AL; ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Aaron Duckwall; brother-in-law, Sam Bugg; a nephew, Michael Bugg; and a son-in-law, Charles "Duck" Duckwall.
Emily was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society and the Berevement Committee. She attended Training School (Campus School), and was a 1945 graduate of Murfreesboro Central High School. Emily graduated from St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, IN, with a BFA degree. She was a talented artist and loved painting portraits of her family. Emily was a member of several bridge clubs, the Charity Circle, and the DAR. She was also an avid reader and golfer, with two holes-in-one to her credit.
Memorials in memory of Emily may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic School or the charity of your choice.
