Eloise Worthey Grimes was born October 7, 1942 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Although Eloise was born in Knoxville, she moved to Michigan as a toddler and lived there until she returned to Tennessee in 2006. She was the oldest of five siblings raised by Adam and Sallie Thomas, having three sister and one brother who preceded her in death( Adam Danny Thomas). Her early education was in the Royal Oak Township, Michigan school system and she later earned certificates in upholstery and power sewing. Over the years she held various jobs and retired from Ford Motor Company. Eloise professed Christ at an early age and was baptized at the New Prospect Baptist Church located in Royal Oak Township, Michigan in the late 50s. While at the church she was a faithful member of the Celestial Choir. Eloise was married to Robert Ford, Lorenzo Harris and Alfred Grimes, all who preceded her in death.
Eloise loved to have a good time and in her younger years enjoyed playing BINGO all over the United States and Canada. You could often find her at the Casino in Detroit, Las Vegas or Tunica after she moved to Tennessee. She was an avid bowler and loved to travel. Eloise was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for family. Her infectious smile and sense of humor will be missed, she went home to Glory after a long illness on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. She leaves to cherish her homegoing her four children, Marian Theresa Ford, Mary Lorraine Ford, Lorenzo Ford Jr., and Linna Marie Brown; three sisters, Addie Delane Williams (Wesley), Peggie Ann Morgan, and Mary Evelyn Thomas; eleven grandchildren, Meason, Shabazz (Crystal), Keyata, Kyrisha, Taujuana, Samuel (deceased), Keisha, Shamazz, Jerry (Joey), Latisha and Steven; seven great grandchildren, Amari, Gabrielle, Kyree, Shabria, Katise, Sam and Zoe; and one great-great grandchild, Sevyn and a whole host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Friday March 22nd 12Noon till 2:00PM at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna Funeral service will be 2:00PM Friday March 22nd at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery. www.woodfinchapel.com
