Elmer Edward Leiter

Mr. Elmer Edward Leiter, age 79, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2026. Born in Mishawaka, IN, he was the son of the late Floyd and Margaret Leiter. Elmer is also preceded in death by his loving wife Millicent Leiter, and his brothers, Richard and Robert Leiter.

Elmer is survived by his children, Julie and her husband Kevin and Bill and his wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Aaron Greve and his wife Marissa, Jacob Greve and his fiancée Anna Ryon, and Parker Leiter; great-grandchildren, Aurora Greve, Luna Greve, and Leo Greve; and his sisters Doris Trobaugh and Anna Lee Abendshein.

Elmer proudly served four years in the United States Air Force as a Sergeant and Aircraft Maintenance Specialist at Stewart Air Force Base in Smyrna. His love of cars was a lifelong passion, whether attending car shows or spending time working on his beloved 1976 Triumph. He was also proud to serve as treasurer of the Stones River Car Club.

In his free time, Elmer enjoyed watching sports and was a devoted Notre Dame fan who rarely missed a game. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh, especially at his own jokes, which he was always certain were hilarious. Above all else, Elmer loved his family. He took great pride in his grandsons and cherished the time he spent with them.

Visitation with the family will be held at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM with funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
