Elmer A. Davis, age 90, of Smyrna, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Grundy County, TN and the son of the late Walter Lee and Florence Ruth Fults Davis. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Bobby G. Davis, Michael E. Davis, and grandchild, Christy Davis McBrayar. Funeral service will be 2:00pm Friday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Bishop Charles Fritts will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Full Military Rites. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 64 years, Christine Griffith Davis, daughter, Lynn Taylor and her husband Larry of Manchester, daughters-in-law, Denise Davis, Connie Davis, grandchildren, Denny (Roxann) Davis, Tara Lynn (Chris) Dalton, Tommy (Angela) Carter, great grandchildren, Thomas Carter, Christian Carter, Baylee Dalton, Kenlee Dalton, Davis McBrayar, and Laney Sandhop. Mr. Davis was in the Army, Army Air Corps, and retired as a Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force having served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam before being honorably discharged after 22 years. He was later known as Sarge to all the children that rode Rutherford County School Bus number 31 and PawPaw to his family.
