Dr. Ellen Barrier Garrison, aged 80, passed away Friday November 15, 2024.

She is survived by her son, Colonel John J. Neal and his wife Kêlig, and her grandchildren Solenn and Tadek.

Dr. Garrison was an archivist and historian. Throughout her career, she taught and worked passionately at the following institutions: Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN; East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN; University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL; and at the New York State Archives in Albany, New York.

She will be laid to rest alongside her husband of 43 years, Dr. Joseph Garrison, at St-Paul Episcopal Church in Murfreesboro. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 9th, 2024 at Central Christian Church in Murfreesboro. The memorial will begin at 10:00 a.m. with storytelling and fellowship to celebrate Ellen's love of coffee and conversation, followed by a service at 11:30 a.m.
