Elizabeth Robertson Barnhill, age 88, died Friday July 1, 2011. A native of Murfreesboro, TN, she was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon R. and Bessie McDonald Robertson. She is also preceded in death by her husband, George C. Barnhill; and her daughter-in-law, Linda Kite Barnhill. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at Mapleview Cemetery. The Reverend John Hinkle will officiate. Mrs. Barnhill is survived by her son, Gordon Barnhill of Murfreesboro, TN; daughter, Elaine Swyers (John) of Nashville, TN; grandson, David Barnhill of Nashville, TN; granddaughters, Cynthia Barnhill of Murfreesboro, TN, Laura Post (Stephen) of Madison, MS, and cousin, Barbara Wheat (Curtis) of Smyrna, TN. Mrs. Barnhill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Murfreesboro and graduated with her masters degree from MTSU. She was a dedicated teacher in Rutherford County for over 30 years and an active member of Alpha Delta Kappa, professional teachers sorority.
