Elaine Ridout Jones, age 77, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville Gladstone and Eddith Tucker Ridout; and brother-in-law, Michael Smotherman.

She is survived by her daughter, Kelley Morton and her husband Butchie; grandchildren, Justin Morton (Alora) and Kayla Morton; great granddaughter, Bexlee Morton; brother, Clyde Ridout; sister, Pam Smotherman; along with several nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends.

Elaine worked for the Veterans Administration for several years and dedicated her life to supporting those who served our country. She found joy in farming, reading books, and old western shows, especially if it involved John Wayne. Elaine was known for her toughness, determination, and affectionate humor. She was a proud mother, Granny, sister, and friend.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, June 6, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with Justin Morton, Alex Fort, Marshall Wilson, Matt Brabender, Justin Stavrovsky, and Alex Stavrovsky serving as pallbearers.
