Elaine Finchum of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on August 17, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Burlington, Vermont, to Rollin and Doris Prior. Elaine spent the majority of her adult life as a devoted military wife, raising her five children and volunteering extensively. She gave back generously through her involvement with the NCO Staff Wives Club and numerous other volunteer roles throughout her life.

To know Elaine was to know boundless energy, laughter, and connection. Always the soul of the party, she loved being in the middle of everything and giving back to the community she adored. From Avon and Tupperware to the Ways and Means Committee, Elaine threw herself wholeheartedly into every venture. Her vibrant spirit shone through her active involvement with the Senior Activity Center of Smyrna, Murfreesboro’s St. Clair Senior Center, Middle Tennessee Artists, TOPS, and her beloved friends in the Red Hat Society. Her favorite pastimes included traveling, cruising the open seas, hunting for treasure at yard sales and craft fairs, taking art classes, and trying her luck at casinos with her friends. Above all else, she loved her family, her friends, and her lottery scratch-offs.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Finchum; her daughter, Pamela Hill; and her grandson, Christopher Finchum.

Elaine is survived by her children: Patti Jacobs (Mike), Robert Norris (Tina), Richard Norris (Lisa), and Valerie Peters (Tracy); 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother; as well as many adoring nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life

A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held on Saturday, September 5th at 3:00 p.m.
