WOODFIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL LT. COL. (RETIRED) EDWIN J. BORRAS, SR. age 67 of Murfreesboro, TN, died Sunday June 29, 2008 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center from complications following surgery on April 17, 2008. Lt. Col. Borras was born on April 5, 1941 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was the second child of the late C.A. and Edwina Carrancejie Borras seven children. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Anita Borras Kelly and his father- in- law, Ewing D. Barrett, Sr. Lt. Col. Borras was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Tennessee Air National Guard and graduated from Seton Hall University in 1962. Lt. Col. Borras is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sandra Barrett Borras, two sons and their wives, Edwin (Winn) Jr. and Elaine Borras, Ethan and Jennifer Borras, a daughter, and her husband, Celeste and Major Brian Godfrey, two granddaughters, Elizabeth Hope Godfrey and Reagan Lynn Borras , and his mother-in-law, Andrea McKnight Barrett all of Murfreesboro, TN. Lt. Col Borras is also survived by four sisters, Bernadette Perez, Janet Scarlett, Charlotte Borras, and Pam Haas and one brother, Gregory Borras. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Bro. Wayne Lankford and Bro. James Lively officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery with full Military Honors. Lt. Col. Borras military awards included the Bronze Star, Air Force Presidential Unit Citation with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Vietnam Service Medal and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Lt. Col. Borras was employed as an accountant by the state of Tennessee with the Child Support Division. Honorary pallbearers will be John Kelly, Steve Scarlett, Frank Perez, Robert Haas, John Leyhew, Robert Underwood, Carter Garner, David Brown, Cecil Morris, Dr. Steve Odom, and Dr. Michael Cookson.
