Edward Leland Jordan, Jr., age 85, of Murfreesboro, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at MTMC. Mr. Jordan was a native of Rutherford County and was the son of the late Edward Leland and Eliza Evelyn Tilford Jordan Sr. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Jordan Williams. Funeral services will be at 11:00AM Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Reverend John Hinkle, Ike Davis, and Harry Gill will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Jordan is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Jane Batey Jordan; sons, Edward Leland Buddy Jordan III and his wife Amber and William P. Jordan and his wife Mary Ann all of Murfreesboro; brothers, Richard Dick Jordan of Holly Springs, MS and John Hopson Jordan of Mechanicsville, VA; sister, Nancy Muir of Franklin, TN; grandchildren, Matthew, Taylor, Ginny, and Zachary. Mr. Jordan was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church, attended Buchanan School, Homer Pittard Campus School, Central High School and was a 1959 graduate of MTSU. Mr. Jordan served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Rutherford County School Board for 22 years and was a former chairman. He was owner and operator of the Cow Palace Dairy along with his sons and grandsons for 47 years before his retirement in 2002. He served on the Board of Directors for the Federal Land Bank and was a member and past president of the Rutherford County Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Rutherford County Building Authority, Chairman of Farm Services Agency Board, and was a member of Dairymen Inc. Mr. Jordan was a founding member of the Walter Hill Country Club, a member of the Rutherford County Sportsmans Club and a member of the Hoopers Supply coffee club. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. John L. Batey, Everett Jack Davis, Charles Ike Davis, Steve McNabb, Bruce Hooper, Freddie Dismukes, Avent Dismukes, W.K. Lane, Aubrey Thompson, Stan Vaught, Mike Vaught, Lewis Perry, Myers Parsons, David Parsons, General Charles David Youree, the Walter Hill Country Club and Hoopers Supply coffee club will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
