Edith Janelle Smith

Mrs. Edith Janelle “Janie” Smith, age 79, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026. Born in Lawrenceburg, TN, she was the daughter of Jesse and Reny Murrell. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Charles Smith, and her siblings, Jesse Lloyd, Charles Franklin, Margie Jewel, Reny Imogene, Alton Ray, and Harold Dean Murrell.

Janie is survived by her sons, Danny Smith and Chris Smith; her granddaughter, Faxton Rae Smith, and niece and nephew, Jessica Frank, and James Frank.

Janie was a devoted member of North Boulevard Church of Christ, teaching Sunday school. Janie worked as an office manager for NHC and graduated from the Automation institute of Nashville in 1965.

Visitation with the family will be at Woodfin Memorial Chapel on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from noon until 2:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at Woodfin Memorial Chapel on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM with David Young officiating. There will be a private family burial to follow.
