Eddie Matthews, age 53, of LaVergne, TN, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 5, 2017. A native of Fayetteville, NC, he was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Spivey Matthews.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kerri Matthews; children, Charlie Matthews and Philip Matthews of Lexington, NC, Anya Matthews of Scio, NY, and Tyler Hargis and Kayla Hargis of LaVergne, TN; father, Charles Edward Matthews Sr; sister, Melba Spivey and her husband David of Raleigh, NC; along with many nieces and nephews.

Eddie was a member of South Gate Baptist Church. He took pride in his job and was the Vice President of Manage Services with Altus. He enjoyed his motorcycle, shooting sports, and digitizing. He was an avid t.v. watcher and liked watching Gilligans Island, Hogans Heros, the A-Team along with many other classic shows. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend and will be greatly missed by all those that knew him.

Memorials in memory of Eddie can be made to the Gideons International.

A Celebration of Life will be Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna with military honors. Vistation will begin Thursday at 5:00 p.m.
