Edd "Pappa" Axley, age 87, died Sunday at his home. Mr. Axley is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" A. "Mamma" Axley; daughters, Angela Roy and husband Tony of Nashville, Karen Parris and husband Pat of Murfreesboro, Linda Smith "their favorite"; grandchildren, Jonathan Parris, Elizabeth Runion and her husband Charlie, Benjamin Parris and his wife Caitlyn, and "Our God Sent Angel" Brianna Cloyd; and numerous adopted children and grandchildren.

Mr. Axley was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as an aide in the church WEE School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with visitation from 4:00 until 7:00 prior to the funeral service. Reverend Pete Mullins will officiate. There will be a committal service Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at McMinn Memory Gardens in Athens, TN with Military Honors.

Memorials may be made to the WEE School designated fund at First Baptist Church in memory of Edd "Pappa" Axley.
