Duane D. "Butch" Brauen , age 77 of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away peacefully on Friday February 24, 2017 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. A native of Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Ben and Eleanor Darling Brauen. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Doris Brauen Newman.

Mr. Brauen is survived by his wife of 53 years, Donnie Gaunt Brauen; daughter, Stacy Brauen of Murfreesboro, TN; son Scott Brauen and his wife Christine of Fairview, TX; brother, Gerald Brauen of Lockport, NY; grandchildren, Lauren Mathes, Jourdan and Ben Brauen; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday with a memorial service at 6:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Dr. Jim Clardy will officiate. Burial will be in Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, TX at a later date.

Mr. Brauen was a US Navy veteran having served in Vietnam. Mr. Brauen received a BS degree from Cornell University in June 1962. He entered the Naval Officers Candidate School, graduating as an Ensign, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. He served in air combat during Vietnam aboard the aircraft carriers USS Coral Sea and USS Constellation. Mr. Brauen was a member of the First Christian Church and a retired Regional Sales Manager.
