Mr. Douglas Eugene Walker, age 66, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 10, 1951 in San Antonio, TX to Charles and Frances Tavolacci Walker. The Walker family moved to San Diego in 1959. Doug attended Hilltop High school in Chula Vista where he played football and was a popular student.
Doug was at the forefront of the mortgage lending business in San Diego in the 70's and 80's having built the successful mortgage lending chain, Westwind Mortgage, at a young age. His strong business sense and keen intellect served him well throughout his life and allowed him to relocate to Murfreesboro with the love of his life, Glenda, to be near family. He quickly established himself as a real estate investor in the area.
Doug will be remembered for his quick mind, bold laugh, and love of cooking Italian food. He loved science fiction, history, music, travel, and nature and was completely devoted to his loving wife. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Douglas is survived by his wife of 29 years, Glenda; brother, Timothy and his wife Joann; sister, Brittany; four daughters, Brenda and her husband Rob, Jeanette and her husband Daniel, Trina and her husband Shawn, and Mandy and her husband Jason; mother, Frances; father, Charles and his wife Julie; cousins, Curtis and Pam; two nephews, Bryant and Kyle; six grandchildren, Alexandra and her husband Sean, Jake, Evan, Tyler, Avery, and Desmond; and life-long friend, Doug.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will take place Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11:00am at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Pastor Cato Jeffrey Gill will officiate. Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
