Dorris W. Scottie Scott, age 74 of Murfreesboro, TN, died Tuesday July 24, 2012 at NHC after an extended Illness. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Walter Wesley and Alma White Miller Scott. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Jerry Scott,and by a grandson, T.J. Underwood. Mr. Scott is survived by his wife of 54 years, June Adams Scott; children, Vivian (Wayne) Walters, Rhonda (Tommy) Underwood, Paul (Shannon) Scott, and James Scott all of Murfreesboro, TN; sister, Joyce (Dick) Magoon of Memphis, TN; seven grandchildren, Gary (Michelle) Walters, Aiyana Walters, Brandi and Scotty Underwood, Carissa (Josh) Bell, Jessica and Allissa Scott; five great-grandchildren, Sarah Walters, Amethyst Tidwell, Kaitlyn and Destinie Underwood, and Aidyn Scott. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday at Woodfin Funeral Chapel with Rev. William Dillon officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Leo Haley, Walt Porter, Dwight Davenport, Joe David Allen, Jesse Adams, Norman Strong, James and Paul Scott serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Haley and Al Byers. Mr. Scott was a member of the Baptist Church, and was a retired printer from the Sword of the Lord after 38 years of service.
